  1. Mount Sabyinyo

Mount Sabyinyo “Sabyinyo” is derived from the Kinyarwanda word “Iryinyo”, meaning “tooth”, is an extinct volcano in eastern Africa in the Virunga Mountains. It is northeast of Lake Kivu, one of the African Great Lakes, and west of Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda.

Location

The mountain is located in the borders of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Uganda. It also lies within Virunga National Park in the Congo, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. The mountain also is an extinct volcano in eastern Africa, in the Virunga Mountains.

  1. Mount Muhabura

Mount Muhabura, also known as Mount Muhabura, an extinct volcano in the Virunga Mountains on the border between Rwanda and Uganda. At 4,127 m, Muhabura is the third highest of the eight major mountains of the mountain range, which is a part of the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift. Muhabura lies partly in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda and partly in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Uganda. The name Muhabura means The Guide in the local language, Kinyarwanda, which probably derives from a historical use of the mountain to aid navigation. It can be seen from many parts of Uganda and Rwanda because of its slope.

Mount Karisimbi is a dormant volcano in the Virunga Mountains on the border between Rwanda and the Karisimbi is bordered by Mikeno to the north, Bisoke to the east and Nyiragongo to the west on the other side of the Rift Valley

Mount Gahinga is a dormant volcano in the Virunga Mountains on the border between Rwanda and Uganda. Gahinga lies between Muhabura and Sabyinyo mountains. The mountain is located on the boarder of Uganda and Rwanda. Mount Gahinga is more of gorillas and is filled with an extraordinary variety of plant life and busting with world class views.

  1. Mount Bisoke

Mount Bisoke is an extinct volcano in the Virunga Mountains of the Albertine Rift in the western branch of the East African Rift. It is located on the border of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo but the summit is located in Rwanda and it stands at 3,711 meters. It is located approximately 35 kilometers northeast of the town of Goma and adjacent Lake Kivu. Mount Bisoke has the largest crater lake of the range.

Geography

The steep slopes of the mountain are densely covered with equatorial rain forest and alpine meadows and the summit does not gather snow, but is often shrouded in fog. Bisoke is one of the mountains considered habitat for the endangered mountain gorilla.
